Should answer most common questions!

Boarding dog walks
Q: Will my dog be suitable for home boarding?

A: Our home boarding is suitable for friendly, social, calm breeds.

Number:
We are licenced to board 2 dogs

Breeds:
Sorry are unable to board the following breeds:-
Any Bull breed, Boxers, Bull Mastiffs, Cane Corso, Romanian Rescue
Sorry, our resident dog is not comfortable with these breeds.

Due to the size of our house we can't board very large / giant breeds

such as: Alsatians, Dobermans, Rottweilers. St. Bernard, Great Dane, etc.
For guidance,
Golden Retriever / Labrador size is as large as we can board.

We are not allowed to board any dog that is listed under the UK Dangerous Dog Act 1991,
these are: XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argerntino, Fila Brasileiro.

Puppies:
We are only able to board dogs 15+ months

Temperament:

We are not kennels, your dog will live in our loving often bustling family home so needs to be comfortable with that environment.

Our little dog Fara is quiet and laid back, we need to board her with dogs who are calm around her.  She's not a playful dog so would not be comfortable with another dog constantly wanting to play, annoy or be overly jumpy around her.

Please be honest when you contact us.
We do not expect your dog to be perfectly behaved at all times, but dogs that have known habits of chewing, food stealing, constant barking or howling, who show aggression to humans or dogs, or those who display possessive behaviours such as guarding food, toys or beds, will not be suitable for our home.

Q: Does my dog need to be neutered?

A: Yes all dogs must be spayed or neutered.

Q: Will my dog enjoy living with you?

A: We hope so! We do everything we can to ensure that your dog enjoys their stay, and becomes part of our family.

Your dog will get a minimum of two 'proper' walks a day (barring any reduced exercise needs due to age, health, breed or extreme weather) and as many cuddles as they want.

There are some dogs that find being away from home or sharing a house with another dog stressful, even if they are sociable. For this reason we always invite you along to our home prior to the booking to meet our dog Fara and assess your dog’s suitability.

Q: Do you accept puppies and/or older dogs?

A: Older dogs are welcome and we can accommodate any reduced exercise needs as well as administer any medication necessary. Sorry, but we are unable to accommodate puppies or dogs under 15 months.

Q: Will my dog ever be left alone in your house?

A: Dogs may occasionally be left alone but never more than a maximum of three hours in any 24 hour period. If this happens, your dog will be separated in a different room from our family dog.

Q: What is the minimum number of nights?

A: April to October the minimum number of nights is 3.

Q: What vaccinations does my dog need to have?

A: It is a condition of our boarding license that dogs must have up to date vaccinations.

You will need to bring your vaccination card with you when you arrive.

Dogs must also ideally have been recently treated for fleas and worms.

Q: What do I need to bring for my dog’s stay?

A:

What to bring...

When your dog(s) comes to stay with us, we ask that you bring a few things for your dog to ensure they are familiar and comfortable with their new surroundings and to allow them to settle as quickly as possible. You will receive information on what to bring once we have confirmed the booking.

Your dog needs:

  • Their normal collar and lead (and harness if they normally wear one)

  • Food for the entirety of the stay

  • Their bed – this will help them settle in

  • Medication for the entirety of the stay (if required)

  • Crate (only applicable if they normally sleep in a crate)

Please feel free to bring any drying coats, coats, brushes and bowls that are specific to your dog(s). We want them to be as happy and content as they are in their normal environment!

With your consent, we only provide natural, healthy dog treats. However, should you require your dog(s) to have a specific treat, please make sure your supply enough for the entirety of the stay.

Q: Where will my dog sleep while staying with you?

A: We have no set rules on where dogs sleep.

Our aim is for your dog to enjoy their stay and that they are happy and relaxed, so they will sleep wherever they feel most comfortable, their bed, sofa, or with human company. If your dog sleeps in a crate then to save you the hassle of bringing one we have a medium (base 89cm x 55cm) and large (103cm x 68cm) that your dog is welcome to use.

Q: What happens if my dog becomes ill or injured?

A: You will have filled in our boarding form when you booked your dog's stay and this will provide us with your vet's details and your emergency contact details. Unless there is a serious emergency that requires immediate veterinary attention, we will always attempt to contact you before taking any action.

Q: What time can I drop off and collect my dog?

A: We are fairly flexible but this must be arranged in advance, you must pick up the same time you dropped off, so for example if you drop off at 1pm you must collect by 1pm. Late collection will incur an additional charge of £10 per four hour block.

No refunds will be made in case of early collection.

Q: Sounds great! How do I make a booking?

A: Contact us with your potential boarding dates, and if your dog meets our criteria, then we can arrange a free 'Meet & Greet'.  Meet & Greets take place outside of our home in the local park, so that our dogs can give each other a sniff over and get acquainted.

All being well, we'll then go to our house, where your dog can have a sniff around, while us humans have a chat.

If we are all happy, we can go ahead and book your dog in. We can offer an overnight stay also if need be this is charged at £20 per dog (7pm to 10am and includes at least 1 walk).
